تولبد دوم ان ها که به نام type-g بر سر زبان ها افتاد هم با استقبال روبرو نشد
و در این زمان دو شریک که به فکر چاره ای برای پیشرفت سونی بودند -۹۹۹ روش برای استقاده از ضبط صوت را انتشار دادند -و مردم با این روش ها اشنا شدند و در این زمان بود که این دستگاه در ژاپن پیشرفت چشم گیری کرد-
ان زمان ژاپن در جنگ جهانی دوم بود و مردم برای اطلاع از اتفاقات نیاز به این رادیو و یا این دستگاه داشتند –
در نتیجه به شدت تقاضا برای خرید این دستگاه زیاد شد که بنیانگزاران مجبور شدند تسهیلات خود را زیاد تر کنند.
نام گزاری این دو برای این شرکت کمی سخت بود که نامی یاشد درامریکا هم استقبال شود و برای انها هم ساده بیان شود – ترکیب اسمی ک انتخاب کردند
کلمه sonus (به معنای صدا و صوت درزبان امریکا لاتین) و کلمه sony یک کلمه برای صدا کردن یک پسر جوان میباشد -واین اسم را انتخاب کردند-
دراصل انتخاب این اسم نه تنها برای ژاپن و امریکا خوب بود بلکه برای کل دنیا اسان تلفظ میشد -ان هم به نام سونی
